The List: Cherry Creek’s Best Gift Shops
There’s no better place in Denver to find the perfect gift than Cherry Creek. And in Cherry Creek, there’s nothing quite like the neighborhood’s locally-owned gift shops to uncover the most unique gems. Here, we share our picks for the neighborhood’s best gift shops, in no particular order. — Betsy Marr
show of hands
We love this female-owned, locally grown art and gift gallery for so many reasons. A neighborhood staple for over 40 years, Katie Friedland’s store is chock-full of character. Every item is produced by small, artisanal companies and artists – from handmade soaps to quirky dish-towels, baby gifts and cocktail glasses. You can rest assured that you’ll find something they don’t have but will undoubtedly love, and you’re certain to find a must-have or two for yourself as well. Part gift shop, part gallery, Show of Hands offers colorful wares that are decisively Colorado and decidedly cool.
Haven
Haven is a lifestyle brand based on the philosophy that everything should be timeless and tastefully rebellious. At Haven, you’ll find your new go-to handbag and favorite denim alongside colorful silk pillows, an eclectic mix of globally inspired homeware, vintage finds, the perfect gift and the very best selection of apothecary items. Helmed by Michelle DeHaven, the store carries a thoughtful collection of all things handmade with a focus on independent designers and niche brands that you won’t find anywhere else in the city.
The ARTISAN CENTER
Featuring handcrafted pottery, contemporary jewelry, chimes, candles, glassware and gifts for babies and children of all ages, The Artisan Center has been a Cherry Creek staple for nearly 50 years. Since opening in 1977, the eclectic gem at the corner of Third and Detroit Streets has become a neighborhood pillar. Now on its second generation of ownership, the shop showcases arguably the best array of gifts in town, always having that perfect little something. We love that the Artisan Center uses its iconic corner window to promote community causes and showcase local charity auctions.
white peacock
White Peacock is our go-to for upscale gifts that will impress even the pickiest recipients. We love the shop’s vast selection of colorful yarn dyed table linens, all of which are arranged on a brightly beautiful wall. From an elegant array of fine china that includes the likes of Ginori, Herend, Anna Weatherly and Rosenthal, to stunning pieces from Baccarat and Christofle and smaller gifts like candles, home fragrance and frames, White Peacock is a haven of good taste and great gifts. Bonus? The shop offers bridal and gift registry services, too!
The Lark
We just included this longtime Denver shop on our last iteration of The List (for best home decor), but we’d be remiss to not name The Lark one of the neighborhood’s best places for gifts, too. From sleek coffee table books to chic objets d’art, all the way to simple hostess gifts like cocktail napkins and candles, The Lark always delivers. A bit off the beaten path, the darling shop has been housed in the same quaint building in the Denver Country Club enclave since first opening in 1971. Today, owner Jill Livran’s spot-on style shines through in The Lark’s eclectic and ever-changing inventory. Also visit The Lark for bridal registry – considered one of the best in town.
the brass bed
The Brass Bed…oh how we love thee. One of the neighborhood’s longest-standing retailers, the chic Third Avenue shop is the crème de la crème when it comes to home textiles and linens. What you’ll also find, however, is a thoughtfully curated selection of gifts – from luxe hand cremes and candles to darling baby accessories. Also check out luxe bathrobes, monogrammed towels, and ultra-chic pillows and throws. Pop on in for those special, one-of-a-kind gifts that they’ll love.
homebody
Dory Pratt’s Homebody on Sixth Avenue is just the sort of space where one could lose themselves for hours, despite its petite footprint. The wayfaring design devotee has curated a boutique that brims with charm and is both worldly and welcoming. An ever-changing inventory boasts a thoughtful selection of pillows, throws, lighting, furniture, linens, pottery, glassware, candles, coffee table books and more. The perfect place to find a gift for nearly anyone, Homebody is a Cherry Creek gem.
