A Little French Revolution

Every July, Americans celebrate independence.

The French celebrate a revolution.

This year, Cherry Creek North will once again transform into a decidedly more Parisian version of itself when Denver French Fest returns July 10-12, bringing French food, wine, fashion, art and culture to Fillmore Plaza for a three-day Bastille Day celebration.

For most of us, the festivities last a weekend.

For Véronique LeClercq, they’re year-round.

The founder of Bastille PARISDENVER has quietly built one of Denver’s most distinctive boutiques just a few minutes away at 9+CO. Named for the famous Paris fortress whose storming sparked the French Revolution, the boutique embraces the idea of change in a different form: helping women rethink how they shop, what they buy, and perhaps most importantly, what they stop buying.

LeClercq’s carefully curated collection focuses on French and European brands that remain largely unknown in Colorado. The emphasis is less on trend cycles and more on pieces with longevity, personality and a sense of everyday ease. She calls it “Everyday Chic”, a phrase that neatly captures the Bastille approach. Not precious. Not performative. Just beautifully considered.

The store has also become something of a cultural outpost. In addition to personal styling appointments, Bastille hosts private shopping experiences complete with Champagne and, for those who wish to lean fully into the fantasy, dinner next door at Le French.

As Denver prepares for another Bastille Day celebration, Bastille PARISDENVER serves as a reminder that French style isn’t really about stripes, berets, or mastering the pronunciation of croissant.

It’s about editing.

And if there’s one thing both Paris and Cherry Creek can appreciate, it’s knowing what deserves a place in the collection.
